What The Experts Say...
HT 151, Low 164
Cousins Herve Manning and Edmund Ira Richards formed their company in 1830. H. M. was then only 18, and E. I., just 15. Their career as Hard Times token manufacturers from 1834, utilizing the services of Edward Hulseman, the engraver at Robinson's Jones & Co. in the same city, is now in doubt. We believe they merely distributed Robinson products.
H. M. left in 1837 for Philadelphia, E. I. continuing alone.
