A very elusive issue which trumpets the Whig Victory of 1834. The “Liberty Cap” on the reverse is similar in concept to the reverse of the pattern gold dollar struck in 1836 and the first steam coinage medals designed by Christian Gobrecht and struck at the U.S. Mint.
