HT 54, Low 42.
Obverse from the same die as Low 41 containing the legend: VAN BUREN METALLIC 1837 CURRENCY around a wrecked ship labeled EXPERIMENT. The MILLIONS FOR DEFENSE BUT NOT ONE CENT TRIBUTE reverse uses the same die as Low 41 with the wreath re-engraved, seven berries each outside and inside, and a short dash added below CENT.
A great rarity! The last auction offering of Low 42 we can find is in the 1941 sale of the Dunham Collection, #2617. We found only two other 20th century auction offerings before that in the 1915 Dr. French Collection and in the 1907 Levick Collection.
