What The Experts Say...

HT 7, Low 5.
Straight reeded edge, with the reeding extremely light. Medal turn. Dies by Robert Lovett, Sr.

Both large and small shield varieties are seen with thick and thin planchets and with straight and oblique reeding. This is an example of the large shield variety. Another diagnostic factor is that there is a period after the N of N ORLEANS on the reverse.

(H. Joseph Levine, PCAC, The Charles Litman Collection, December 6, 2003)

The size of the shield on Low 5 if larger than that of Low 5A, although this is not always obvious.
